This winter the Piston Poppers decided to do a building session as a group, a Keith Sandberg designed plane he named the “CHALLENGER” was chosen. This is a .15 sized profile with a thick airfoil designed as basic trainer which turned out as a very good stunt trainer capable of flying the full PAMPA stunt pattern.

This project started out with Keith’s design and with him cutting out all the fuselage parts, Wayne Willy cutting out tail feathers, Jeff Lange all the wing ribs, Sina Goudarzi did the many hours of computer drawing and refinement of the plans, Mike Moylan assembled the kits that we would have on the 26th.

On February 26th we met at the E.A.A. chapter 237 hanger and under Keith and Wayne’s guidance and direction we assembled the wings and fuselages. Building as a group we were able to watch and learn new tricks from the different builders. What a confidence booster. As you can see from the pictures below we all started with the parts and a set of plans, as we left that day some of us were further along than others and as they get completed we will add their photos to this page. Keep watching.
